Description |
This commemorative medal is a large bronze medal made in memory of Zachary Taylor. On the front there is a laurel wreath that reads 'Buena Vista,' and has a battle scene with mountains in the background and Zachary Taylor standing by his horse. The image is a relief image and also has soldiers and palm trees in it. The bottom edge has names of other battles along it. The reverse has a relief image of the Louisiana state seal which features pelicans and the scales of justice. The word 'Justice' is above the scale and 'Union' and 'Confidence' are below the birds. The reverse has an inscription around the edges. |

Commemorating Zachary Taylor's victory in Mexico A part of the Old KHS collection, moved to the Kentucky Military History Museum in 1974 became part of the KHS collection again in 1995 when the museums merged. |
