Description |
This is an advertisement for "Miss Parloa's New Cook Book" created by the J. Bacon & Sons company. It appears to be a reproduction of a book's title leaf page with an additional paragraph pasted on the front side of the paper. The front side of the paper advisement reads in large letters ""Miss Parloa's/ New Cook Book. / by Maria Parloa,." It is followed by the following paragraph "Principal of the School of Cooking in Boston; Author of 'The Appledore Cook Book,' 'First Principles of Household Management and Cookery,' 'Camp Cookery,' 'Miss Parloa's New Cook Book,' and 'Miss Parloa's Kitchen Companion.'" The next paragraph reads the following, "Desiring that 'Our Miss Parloa's New Cook Book' will be as widely distributed as possible and that every family in Louisville, and all the surrounding towns may possess one, we have arranged to present one Book, so long as they last, to every patron that purchase from us merchandise to the amount of $1.00 or over, at one time. Our design is, that only one book goes to each family. Respectfully, J. Bacon & Sons." This second paragraph is printed on a black framed white square. Just at the bottom of the page it reads, "Boston/ Published by Estes and Lauriat/ 301-305 Washington Street." On the back side of the paper it reads in the middle, "Copyright. 1880,/By Estes and Lauriat." and on the bottom of the page, "Boston/ S. J. Parkhill & Co., Printers." |
