Description |
An Impressionist scene this painting depicts an area north of Frankfort on the Peaks Mill Road by Elkhorn Creek at Channel's Ford. A dirt track runs from left foreground into background. Creek with rocks marking the ford are to the right. Two large trees lean out over the creek in the middle foreground. The trees have autumn foliage. There is a small embankment with a fence on top on the left hand side of painting. |
Notes |
The painting was collected by Sawyier's Frankfort patron, John J. King. The scene is locally called Church's Grove and is north of Frankfort on the Peak's Mill Road. The donor's mother sold the right to reproduce this painting to Paul Sawyier Galleries in 1971. |
