Description |
This is a plastic key fob with three small luggage type keys attached on a chain. The key fob is circular of clear plastic with yellow paper imbedded within. The paper is irregular with a drawing in black of an arch over a silhouette of a submarine floating on water and black lettering on the front and back that reads "U.S. SUBMARINE VETERANS/ WORLD WAR II" and "PURPOSE/ To ... assist and abet the/ U.S. Submarine Veterans of/ World War II in all their endeav-/ors and projects and aid them in carrying on the purpose of their Constitution!!!". The chain is a brasslike metal attached through a round hole in the clear plastic fob. One key has an elongated top with a depressed oval outline on each side with the hole, eleven parallel lines on one side and a stylized bird in flight on the other side. The other two keys are irregular in shape and have incised lettering that reads "LONG/ LOCK", "DEBURG/ VA." and "INTERPUR". |

This belonged to the donor's and her husband, Ewert W. Elliott. Ewert and Alene Elliott both were members of the United States Submarine Veterans of World War II (USSVWWII). Ewert served aboard the USS Seal (SS-183) and the USS Macabi (SS-375) submarines in World War II. |
