Notes |
Maps used by William S. Stovall who was an Army Ranger from Lexington who enlisted in February 1941 after a year with the Kentucky National Guard. He fought in North Africa, Italy, and across Europe, receiving the silver star, purple heart, and good conduct medal. He became a master sergeant in 1949 and was discharged. Called back to service as a reservist, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War in March 1951. He was promoted to Captain in 1956 and retired in 1961. |
