Description |
This pin is from Kentucky delegation at the National Democratic Convention in Chicago in 1892. The badge features a thin pin bronze pinbar with a long blue ribbon. The top portion is embellished with gold metallic tassels, while silver metallic tassels adorn the bottom edge. "Kentucky" is printed in white between the pinbar and top embellishment. "NATIONAL / DEMOCRACTIC / CONVENTION, CHICAGO /1892" is printed in white in the center portion of the ribbon. |

The National Democratic Convention of Chicago 1892 renominated former president Grover Cleveland and Adlai E. Stevenson of Illinois. The chairman of the Kentucky delegation was C.J. Bronston; other delegates from Kentucky were J.A. McKenzie, Henry Watterson, and Moses Hoover Rhorer. J.A. McKenzie referred to Kentucky in his convention address as, "A State, thank God, where a damn lie is the first lick; a State that produces a kind of liquor so good as to make intemperance a virtue; a State that produces a line of horses so fast as to keep the wind in perpetual jealousy, and to make lightening look like a puling paralytic."
