Description |
This is a badge ribbon from the 1944 National Encampment of United Spanish War Veterans in Cincinnati, Ohio. There is a paper name tag with a gold border glued to the top of the ribbon. In black pen ink it reads, "GUS KURS / G-13TH / KENTUCKY". The ribbon is striped with red on one half and yellow on the other. On the ribbon in gold lettering it reads, "VISITOR / 46TH NATIONAL / ENCAMPMENT / UNITED SPANISH / WAR VETERANS / CINCINNATI, O. / AUG. 13-17, 1944". Near the center of the ribbon is the emblem of the USWV in gold. The emblem consists of a cross with (clockwise) "Cuba / Porta Rico / U.S.A / Philippine Islands" on the arms, and in the center is a disc that reads, "SPANISH WAR - VETERANS / 1898-1902", and inside the disc are two soldiers and a woman kneeling beside a body of water. |
