Charles Nield Bayless (born in Louisville, 1914 and died in Greenville SC, 1991) was a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa. and the University of Virginia School of Architecture. He practiced architecture in Lexington, Ky. for 35 years as a principal in the firm Bayless, Clotfelter & Associates. Although most noted for his design of the people's Bank building in downtown Lexington, he was also interested in earlier structures and was known for his architectural photography. This is a piece of molding from the Chaumiere des Prairies (027) historical site at Catnip Hill Pike, in Jessamine County, Kentucky. The house name and location marked is marked on masking tape. |
