Description |
This is a woman's United States Air Force dress blues uniform. Part (a) is a dark blue polyester coat with dark blue officer's cuff stripes. It is a tailored, single-breasted jacket with three silver USAF insignia buttons pinned with safety pins to the coat. There are two horizontal hip patch pockets with no flaps. There is a nametag attached to the proper right breast and two silver "U.S."collar insignia lapel pins. Part (b) is a light blue tailored cotton blouse with a button front closure. There are button down shoulder tabs. The blouse has long sleeves and button cuffs. Part (c) is a dark blue polyester A-line skirt. It is a mid-calf length skirt with a side zipper closure. It has an attached waistband with an one button closure on the side. The skirt has a nylon lining and is sewn in five panels. Part (d) is a pair of dark blue polyester trousers.The pants have two diagonal welt hip pockets and are pleated in the front and the back. There is a front zipper closure and an attached waistband with belt loops and a two hook closures in the front. |

Mary Frances Clark wore all of the uniforms in this collection during her many years of service in the Air Force (1965-1993). (Both the trousers and the skirt were worn with the coat and blouse.) She was issued this uniform while at the Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. She was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky and was the second child of Ruth and James Clark. Mary joined the USAF as a dietitian in June 1965 with the rank of first lieutenant. She was assigned at Gunter Air Force Base Alabama for basic training and was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma as Chief, Medical Food Service. She retired in June of 1993 holding the rank of lieutenant colonel, the second highest rank obtaining in the Air Force for her profession. |
