Description |
This is page 140 showing a wood engraving illustration from Harper's Weekly, February 29, 1868 edition. The image is captioned "The New Suspension Bridge over the Ohio River at Cincinnati, Ohio.-[See Page 142." and shows a scene where a bridge dominates the center of the image. The viewer appears to be stained on the left shore where there are a few people milling about a very rubble filled shoreline. A small barge is crossing the river in front of the bridge. ON the other shoreline, there are steamboats aligned on the shore with smoke bellowing from their smokestacks into the densely clouded sky above. The backside of the page is filled with various articles including ones entitled "Holy Land Explorations" and "Home and "Foreign Gossip." |
