Description |
This is a woman's United States Air Force uniform service hat. Part (a) is a "bucket" style hat with a stiffened oval top. The hat has a blue brim turned up on the sides and in the back but is straight in the front. A 1 3/4" wide blue band encircles the lower part of the top. The front of this band swells to three inches in the front. The band is attached with four snaps. there is an United States of America eagle symbol applied to the front of the band. The hat has a polyester lining with an oval plastic insert attached. Part (b) is a white cover for the hat. |
Notes |
Mary Frances Clark wore all of the uniforms in this collection during her many years of service in the Air Force (1965-1993). She was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky and was the second child of Ruth and James Clark. Mary joined the USAF as a dietitian in June 1965 with the rank of first lieutenant. She was assigned at Gunter Air Force Base Alabama for basic training and was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma as Chief, Medical Food Service. She retired in June of 1993 holding the rank of lieutenant colonel, the second highest rank obtaining in the Air Force for her profession. |
