Description |
This is a circular celluloid process political button for the Presidential campaign of George H.W. Bush in1988. The button has a dark red background with a black and white photo of Bush on a white circle in the upper portion surrounded by the upraised wings of a gold eagle drawing. There is a red, white, and blue banner above the photo and in front of the eagle. Gold lettering below the eagle reads "BUSH", on the left side "19" and on the right side "88". There is black lettering on the curled under edge that reads "POLITICAL AMERICANA 1-800-333-4555" followed by an unreadable union printer's label. A safety pin closure is attached to the back of the button. |

Former Director of the CIA and Chairman of the Republican Party, George Bush was elected Vive President in 1980 and 1984 under Ronald Reagan. He defeated Democrat Michael Dukakis in 1988, but was defeated by Bill Clinton in his 1992 bid for re-election. |
