Notes |
The materials belonged to the donor's grandfather Richard B. Crawford who was a native of Louisville, Ky. Records suggest that he was a member of the 1st Kentucky Regiment, also known as the Louisville Legion. This unit was a Kentucky State Guard unit and one of the original units of the reorganized Kentucky National Guard. Crawford served with the Kentucky Guard during the Mexican Border Campaign in 1916. During WWI, Crawford apparently transferred to the Headquarters 113th Am Tn. He was also commissioned a second lieutenant. Based one of the recordings, he also served in some capacity in WWII mostly like in the Pacific theatre. The Blue Network was a radio broadcasting network. It was a division of the National Broadcast Company (NBC). In 1943, The Blue Network was sold to Edward Noble how would eventually rebranded the company into American Broadcast Company (ABC). |
