Fred W. Rolf was the grandfather of Mary Ann Bogart, wife of the donor. According to her, Rolf was the founder of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. Rolf, a democrat, held several political offices including Deputy Sheriff (?-1913), County Assessor (1913-?) and Tax Commissioner (1925-?) in Covington, Kentucky. He also ran for County Clerk in 1921 and may have held this position. The image on this block was used to print his image on political cards including card 2001.26.18, County Tax Commissioner, 1925.
