Description |
This flier is printed on white paper and has black text. Across the top is printed "VOTE / DEMOCRATIC / TUES. NOV. 2." To the right of this text is a small image of a rooster with the words "DEMOCRAT / PARTY / Fighters for People" printed underneath. Below this is a list of the Democratic candidates and the positions for which they are running. To the right of the candidate's names are small boxes which have x's inside. Along the right edge of the flyer are small black and white rectangular photographs of the candidates. Across the bottom of the flyer is printed "Paid for by Ford, Carroll, McBee Campaign Committee / Asa M. Rouse, Treasurer, Walton, Ky." A small union trademark is printed to the right of this. |

Wendell Hampton Ford was elected the 53rd Governor of Kentucky during this election in 1971. Julian M. Carroll, a native of McCracken County, was elected Lieutenant Governor along with Ford. Carroll became Governor in 1974 when Ford resigned to go to the U.S. Senate. Many other Democrats took office during this year, including the donor of this piece, Drexell R. Davis who became State Treasurer and Thelma Stovall who won Secretary of State of Kentucky. This object was donated on November 28, 1989 by Drexell R. Davis. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in the Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia. |
