Notes |
Stuart Price Hemphill received the cup from his grandfather Lewis Hemphill of Jessamine County. Hemphill believed that the cup was won at a fair or horse show as a prize. David Kinsey (1819-1874) was a Welsh born Cincinnati silversmith who worked with his brother Edward from 1840-1861, and alone from 1861-1870. The Kinsey's produced the bulk of the handmade holloware and flatware of Cincinnati of their time. |
