Description |
This is a badge from the 1893 presidential inauguration of Grover Cleveland. The pin is a brass bar, and the ribbon features two layers: purple on the front and red on the back. The ribbon has "INAUGURATION" printed in gold along the top. The Capitol surrounded by four flags is also printed in gold below this wording. A circular lithograph of Grover Cleveland and Adlai Stevenson is affixed to the center of the ribbon. Below this imagery, "THE NATIONS CHOICE / WASHINGTON / D C / 1893" is printed in gold. Gold embellishment can be found throughout. There is a brass fringe with spiral tassels along the bottom edge of the ribbon. The back of the ribbon features a gold seal with an eagle perched on a ovular crest with a horse standing on its rear legs, front legs resting on the crest, to either side. A banner below this imagery has "VIRTUE LIBERTY & INDEPENDENCE" printed within it. Below the seal in gold is printed "J. H. SHAW / MANUFACTURER OF / BADGES & BANNERS / 818 ARCH ST. / PHILADA." |
