This classically draped bust of Henry Clay shows him with his hair long on the side and parted in the middle. The bust faces the viewer's left. Clay's face is craggy but smooth with a few horizontal lines on his forehead. The bust sits on six-sided base. |

From The Acts of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: "Resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucy: That the Governor of this Commonwealth be, and he is hereby, directed to purchase the busts of General Andrew Jackson and Henry Clay sculptured and now owned by Joel T. Hart, and that the sum of seventeen hundred dollars is appropriated for that purpose, and the Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant on the Treasurer for that sum. February 20, 1874. |
