Notes |
University of Kentucky professor James Stephen Brown (1916-1999) collected this item in 1942 when he was doing sociology studies in the Clay County community he named "Beechcreek". Brown said he obtained this basket from the grandmother of one of the people he studied. The grandmother told him that the basket was at least 100 years old in 1942. |
