Description |
This child's dress is brown calico with a light background print. The neck is round and high with a short ruffle of the same fabric. The back is open all the way down to hem, with six white plastic buttons. The dress is made of three panels in an a-line shape. The sleeves are long with no trim and no gathering or tapering at the cuff. There are hand-stitched button holes, and the seams are all machine sewn. There are small gores in the side seams near the hem. |

Notes with this dress say, "Belonged to donor's mother's, mother." A search on Ancestry.com for the donors mother Annie Pence from Stanford, Ky and her Husband Walker Owsley Walker of Garrard Country (married around 1904), show that Annie Pence Walker was born in 1880. The buttons on the dress are plastic, and it is thought that this dress belonged to the donor's mother, rather than her grandmother. |
