Description |
This is a University of Kentucky football hand fan. It is made from a thin piece of cardstock in the shape of a person's head which has been glued to a thin, contoured wooden handle. The front of the fan features a black and white photograph of Coach Hal Mumme's face. There are holes cut out in place of Mumme's eyes so the fan could double as a mask. The back of the fan has a white background and two large logos printed in black ink at the top. The left logo has a trapezoidal shape made with a thick black line and has a white interior. Inside are two large letters "SA" across the top and the word "SUPERAMERICA ®" underneath. The logo on the right is oval shaped with a black background and the letters "KYT" cutting diagonally across the oval in white. Along the top edge of the oval are the words "In Touch with Kentucky." Under the logo is printed "WKYT TV 27." Between the words "WKYT" and "TV" is a small symbol that looks like a human eye. |
Notes |
Hal Clay Mumme is an American college football coach and player from Texas. Mumme was hired by the University of Kentucky in 1996 to replace Bill Curry as head coach of their football program. Mumme introduced the "Air Raid offense" to the team. Mumme resigned in 2001 amid rumors of numerous NCAA rules violations, largely surrounding payments to recruits. Mumme's final record at the University of Kentucky was 20-26, compared to Kentucky's 9-24 mark in the three years before his arrival. Collected by the McGurk family. |
