This is a vinyl 78 phonograph record with the songs "Little Red Shoes/New River Train". It has a yelllow and blue label with Bluebird Records logo, and the number #6645 |
Notes |
Bill (1911-1996) and Charlie Monroe(1903-1975), the youngest of eight children, were born in Rosine in Ohio County, KY. The boys moved North in search of work in the 1920s, by the early 30s they were playing traditional music on Chicago radio. In February 1936, they made their first recordings on the Bluebird label of RCA-Victor, which proved popular. Further sessions followed, and in total they cut some 60 tracks for the label. The brothers split up in 1938. Found by the donor in a trunk he inherited from his grandfather, Marion Blaine Manning (1868-1937). Manning was a McCreary County businessman and politician who married Polly Caddell Manning (1876-1954). |
