Description |
This is a tripod for a Browning .30 caliber M2 machine gun. It has a front leg and two back legs. The front leg is stationary and has a circular base on it. There is a brass plate on the top of the front leg, near the tripod head, that reads "No. 2978 AF / Mount Tripod / Cal. 30 M2." The tripod head has a gun latch to lock the gun in place with a pin. The two back legs do not adjust, but they spread apart when the traversing bar slides up and down along the legs. There is a lever to lock the traversing bar into place on the right leg. The traversing bar has a scale on it to read when the gun is slid across it. There is a traversing and elevating mechanism that is attached to the traversing bar. The gun would attach to it by a pin with a chain on the mechanism. There is also an elevating wheel on that piece. The back legs also have a circular base. |
