Description |
This is a bolt from the steamer "Alice Dean." The bolt is a fourteen inches long, half inch square rod with two washers affixed to one end. The end with the washers is rounded. The ends are mushroomed and appear to have been intentionally hammered to form a type of rivet. There is residual red paint on the end with the washers. The other end has residual white paint. |
Notes |
This bolt is a souvenir of the steamer "Alice Dean." The "Alice Dean" was used by John Hunt Morgan's Cavalry to cross the Ohio River at Brandenburg, Kentucky in 1863. After the crossing the "Alice Dean" was burned and sunk. |
