Description |
This is a dark blue participant's ribbon from the Eighth Reunion of the First Kentucky Orphan Brigade, CSA, held in Louisville, Kentucky on September 19, 1889. The silk ribbon has black printed text that reads, "Eighth Reunion / FIRST KENTUCKY / ORPHAN / BRIGADE / C.S.A. / Louisville, Ky., / Sept. 19, 1889. / MEMBER." The top and bottom ends of the ribbon are cut and frayed. |

The Confederate First Kentucky Brigade, nicknamed the Orphan Brigade, included the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 9th Kentucky Infantry regiments and Cobb’s, Byrne’s and Graves’s batteries of artillery, and, at times, the 3rd and 5th Kentucky Infantry. |
