Description |
This lithographed theatrical poster is printed on heavy paper. It features an oval bust image of Clara Louise Kellogg, viewed over her left shoulder with her facing the viewer's left. Her dress is slightly off-the-shoulder with a drawstring neckline. She wears a necklace and earrings. Under the image is inscribed "CLARA LOUISE KELLOGG." The maker name "ARMSTRONG & CO. LITHrs. BOSTON" is in small letters under the image. |

Clara Louise Kellogg (1842-1916) was a South Carolina soprano opera singer and opera company manager who pioneered the singing of English in European opera. This poster was used as packing material in miscellaneous containers recovered from the attic of the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Ky. The poster was deaccessioned by the Speed in 1991 and transferred to the Kentucky Historical Society in 1997. |
