This Jefferson Island Salt box is a rectangular cardboard box with blue waves on the bottom and an otherwise red background. It is printed in white. There is a pouring spout on the lid. |

From the kitchen of the donor's mother, Louise Moss Chesher (pictured next to her husband see file for photograph). From the home of Louise Moss (1904-2002) and Ollie Leonard Chesher (1899-1952) in Louisville. Louise Chesher was a bookkeeper and personal secretary for the J.F. Pilcher Manufacturing Company. Ollie Chesher was a security officer for the Railway Mail Company. They built the house at Oxford Place, a streetcar suburb, in 1933. They had three children: Ollie Jr., Laverne, and Avanell. |
