Description |
This is a brass Hospital Volunteer Service badge attached to a red silk ribbon with a pinning device attached to the back. The red ribbon is single segment of ribbon that is folded in half horizontally across the top. The ends of the ribbon are cut at an inverted v-shape. The ribbon has a rectangular brass pinning device along the back edge. The pin that is attached to the ribbon is a shield-shaped brass with a white enamel shield in the center that features a brass disk with a coat of arms emblem, likely the American Hospital Association emblem, within the disk. The top of the pin reads, "HOSPITAL / VOLUNTEER / SERVICE." The name of the hospital, "HINSDALE SANITARIUM & HOSPITAL," is along the sides and lower edge of the pin. The Latin phrase "NISI DOMINUS FRUSTRA" is below shield located at the center of the pin. |
