Notes |
This medal belonged to Lynn Barrett (born 1920). Lynn enlisted in the Air Corps on January 22, 1942 and left the military in 1948. He and his brother Marion (1925-2015) served in the military during World War II. Lynn was born in Woodford County, and Mario was born in Ohio County. They grew up in various places throughout Kentucky. Marion graduated from a high school in Suffolk, Virginia in 1943. By spring 1944, Marion was in training US Army Air Corps in Hondo, Texas. It seems the war ended before Marion could be sent overseas. After Marion left the military, he attended the University of Missouri. Eventually, he settled in Logan County, Kentucky and was the editor of the Adairville Enterprise from 1963 to 1974. Marion and his wife Bettie were owners of Barrett Printing in Russellville. |
