Description |
This is a "coxcomb and currants" patterned quilt. It is also called "Flowering Almond". There are green and red (faded to pink) grapes and vines on a white background. There are three rows of three grape vine "blooms" in the center that are hand appliquéd and quilted. The quilting is done in various patterns such as a diagonal echo, feather leaves, feather circles, and straight lines. There is an applied red binding which may have been added later. There is a green scrolled vine surrounding the outer edges of the quilt with leaves and red and green grape bunches shooting off in an alternating color pattern. Chain stitches create the small curly vines. The white cotton background of the quilt is constructed in several pieces which include a 10 3/4" wide border and six 14" center squares and six half squares. |
