Cawood Ledford was a play-by-play announcer for the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and football teams. Ledford was the voice of Kentucky basketball for 39 years. A native of Harlan, Kentucky, Ledford graduated from Centre college. He began broadcasting games in 1953 after moving to Lexington. Ledford became a member of the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. During his career, Ledford was named Kentucky's Sportcaster of the Year 22 times. Ledford also worked national broadcasts such as the NCAA Men's Final Four and the Kentucky Derby. Collected by the McGurk Family. |
