Description |
This lithograph published by Kurz & Allison is titled "Last Meeting of Gen. Robert E. Lee & Stonewall Jackson." It is based on Everett B. D. Julio's painting titled "The Last Meeting." It portrays Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson on the evening of May 1, 1863, during the Battle of Chancellorsville. Both men are on their horses. Robert E. Lee is to the left, and he is pointing off toward the left. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson is to the right, and he is looking to his left at Robert E. Lee. In the right background, two Confederate soldiers are visible. In the left background, mountains and trees are visible. Below the printed area in the lower right corner is the publisher's information: Kurz & Allison - 76 - 78 Wabash Ave., Chicago. The title is printed in the lower margin in the center in capitalized letters: Last Meeting of Gen. Robert E. Lee & Stonewall Jackson." |
