Description |
This badge is from the annual convention for the United Daughters of the Confederacy held in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1921. The top of the pin is a name insert frame with a man riding a horse at the top. The insert says, "Mrs. John Woodbury, KY." The ribbon features a white background with a red, white, and blue vertical piping along the left side, and red, white, and red piping on the right side. Printed on the ribbon in gold is, "Annual Convention, United Daughters of the Confederacy, St. Louis, Mo. Nov. 8-12, 1921". |

Mrs. John L. Woodbury was a prominent member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy from Louisville, Kentucky. In 1920 she was chosen by Governor William J. Fields as part of a group to oversee the Jefferson Davis monument in Fairview, KY. She was made chairman of the highway committee in 1923, and in 1925 she was elected Historian-General. She served on the editorial staff for the UDC magazine as an editor from 1932-1955, and in 1935 she was elected President General. |
