Description |
This is a cream colored net lace cap. It has small embroidered flowers spaced throughout the cap. There is a drawstring at the top front. |
Notes |
Attributed by the donor to Ann Eliza Viley (1815-1875), daughter of Captain Willa and Lydia Smith Viley, and wife of George W. Johnson (1811-1862). Johnson was a lawyer, farmer, and state legislator elected governor of Kentucky's Confederate shadow government in November 1862 at a secession convention in Russellville, Kentucky. He was killed at the Battle of Shiloh in April 1862. The couple married in 1833 and had ten children. |
