This brochure is from the 2003 Ben Chandler/ Charlie Owen gubernatorial campaign. The theme of the handbill is "Preserving KY Traditions" and it discussed 2nd Amendment rights. The handbill has a gold and tan background with lettering in red, blue and white. The handbill features two color photographs of the candidates hunting and fishing. At the bottom the piece reads, "Sportsman for Chandler - Owen" and at the top it reads, "Preserving Kentucky Traditions" in bold white letters. |

Drexell R. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia. This piece is part of a collection Mr. Davis donated over twenty years. This piece is from the 2003 gubernatorial campaign of Ben Chandler and Charlie Owen for Governor and Lt. Governor. Chandler and Owen became the Democratic nominees for the race but lost in the general election to Ernie Fletcher. Ben Chandler is the grandson of Governor A. B. "Happy" Chandler and is the United States Representative from the 6th Congressional District of Kentucky. |
