Description |
This item is a badge from the 36th National Encampment of the United Spanish War Veterans. The aluminum name badge is suspended from a yellow silk ribbon that reads "36TH NATIONAL / ENCAMPMENT / U.S.W.V." in red lettering. The badge is clipped to the ribbon and there is a safety pin style closure on the back of the ribbon. The badge has an oversized name card holder inscribed with the dates on either side, "AUG 19-23 / 1934" and the name holder is "PITTSBURGH". Under the name holder, from left to right, is a square building, the Cathedral of Learning and a cross. The cross reads (clockwise) "CUBA / PORTORICO / USA / PHILIPINE ISLAND" and the center disc reads "SPANISH WAR VETERANS / 1898-1902" and inside these words are two male figures. On the back of the name holder is name of the manufacturing company, but it is illegible and "PITTSBURGH PA." |
