Description |
This is a wooden-handled steel shipwright's adze. The head has a long flat blade on the front end and on the back is rectangular spike. |
Notes |
An adz used extensively in the ship building trade for smoothing decks as well as for cutting both curved and straight framing members. The spike was used to drive nails down below the surface of the decking. |
