He is shown wearing glasses, a dress shirt, tie, and he has his jacket slung over his left shoulder. Around the left, right, and bottom edges of the poster and surrounding the photo of Stumbo are small cartoon depictions of workers in various occupations with a caption at the bottom that says, "THE WORKERS' CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR." Warren Grady Stumbo is a politician and doctor who was a Candidate in the Democratic primary for Governor of Kentucky in 1983 and 1987, losing both races. This poster was donated in December of 1986 by Drexel Davis. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia. |
