Notes |
This plaster bust of Stephen C. Foster (1826-1864), the composer of "My Old Kentucky Home", was made by Joseph Leeland Roop (1869-1932). Roop was from Louisville and is known for his portrait sculpture, diorama models, and modeling for stop action motion pictures. Roop made this piece for Homecoming Week which was celebrated in Louisville in 1905. The sculptor used a photograph of the musician as a model. |
