Below that is a broken line enclosing small diamonds, and below that are the words, "Continental / Congress," all in capital letters. Below that is the emblem of the Daughters of the American Revolution, then "N.S.D.A.R. / 1917." Across the bottom is a decorative line. The top edge is folded to the back. Below the fold is a safety pin attaching a paper label to the ribbon. The label reads, "Meyer's Military Shop / Manufacturers of Metal Badges / Ribbon Badges, Flags & Pennants / 1231 Pa. Notes |
The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), founded in 1890, is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Members must prove their bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. Each year since its beginning, the organization has an annual meeting at its headquarters in Washington, D.C., that it calls its Continental Congress. The Kentucky Society of the DAR was organized in 1891. S. N. Meyer, Inc. was a producer of military society goods in Washington, D. C. in the early 1900s. This ribbon's Kentucky connection is unclear. |
