Description |
This white cotton nightgown has cutwork and embroidery in floral designs on the cuffs and yoke. The piece has a series of tucks in front that run from the shoulders down the sides of the piece. The tucks run both vertically and horizontally and the horizontal tucks are in sets of seven that are separated by panels of machine stitched floral embroidery. An embroidered placket runs down the front center. The placket has the same floral embroidery as the panels described earlier and is trimmed with a scalloped edge. At the top the placket meets the collar that is made of the same material with the embroidered floral pattern and scalloped edge. The placket covers the seven button front closure with mother of pearl buttons. The sleeves begin at a dropped shoulder and the shoulder is gathered at the shoulder seam. The cuffs are finished with a band of scalloped embroidery and on the outer edge goes up to a panel of vertical tucks with floral embroidery similar to the embroidery on the front sides. |
