Description |
This collection is comprised of two small wooden finger rings (Part A and B). The smaller of the two rings (Part A) has "Dixie" carved in the wood, filled with an unknown material and painted blue. The other ring (Part B) is decorated with blue and white paint dots on the exterior and interior of the ring. This ring is also cut through to allow for expansion. |
Notes |
The original catalog record for these rings described them as "Two rings made by a Confederate Soldier at Camp Chase." Camp Chase was a Civil War prisoner-of-war camp near Columbus, Ohio that held over 26,000 Confederate prisoners during the war. Many of John Hunt Morgan's officers were imprisoned there after his July 1863 capture at Bluffington Island. |
