Description |
This is a pin from the 1900 Republican National Convention held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The brass pin back is rectangular and features scrollwork. A white celluloid inset is featured in the center with "Chauncey M. Depew" printed in blue. A red, white, and blue ribbon hangs from the pin back and is gathered at the bottom where it attaches to a medallion. The medal consists of a celluloid process button affixed to a brass frame embellished with scrollwork. The button has a gold background and features a black and white jugate of William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt. Behind the portraits of the men is an illustrated red, white, and blue ribbon tied in a bow. "Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark, N.J." is stamped on horizontally in the center of the back of the medal. |

The 1900 National Convention of the Republican Party of the United States was held June 19 to June 21 in the Exposition Auditorium, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. President William McKinley was unanimously nominated for reelection. Governor Theodore Roosevelt of New York, who was himself a delegate, was nominated for Vice President.
