Description |
This is a surgeon's medium amputating knife. It is nickel plated steel with a single edge with a thick back. The long blade has a curved tip, slight neck and diamond cut textured grip. |
Notes |
A medium knife used to cut skin and muscle away prior to an amputation. Used by Dr. John T. Robinson (1829-1911), a Gallatin County physician, the son of Samuel B. and Lydia M. Robinson. He worked as a river boat pilot until 1853 and graduated from Cleveland Homes Medical College in 1861. |
