Description |
This is a woman's navy blue linen dress with a straight silhoutte with the hem falling at mid-calf-length. It has a large rounded neckline with a bow on the proper left side of the neckline. It has a back zipper closure and cap sleeves. It has three navy blue appliquéd flowers with white linen petals. One flower is at the top proper left, another is is at the proper right hip and the third is at the bottom proper left. It has a navy nylon lining. The label reads "Renmor." It also has a small tag on the inside back seam that says, "International Ladies Garment Workers Union." |

This dress belonged to Hazel Neal Bennett (1-26-1903 to 8-27-2001) who was born in Williamstown, Kentucky. She was a career woman who worked for the Farm Home Administration. In 1923 she married a farmer named Glenmore Bennett (d. 1989). The couple had no children. They opened the department store called Frakes and Bennett in Williamstown. They sold general dry goods and clothing. Hazel was an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker. |
