Description |
This appliqué quilt is a variation on an "Orange Peel, Tulips, and Pomegranate" pattern. The cotton fabrics are in solid bright red, green and orange appliquéd onto a solid white background. The quilt is comprised of four large blocks, each measuring 33 inches by 33 inches. The center of each block has a bright red and green "orange peel" appliquéd design. On the sides of the "orange peel" are green tulips with red leaves and a red center. On the tops and bottoms, there are red tulips with green leaves and a green center. Long-stemmed yellow flowers extend from the center of each block up toward each corner. There are two small red floral buds on each stem. Between the long-stemmed flowers, the field has alternating sets of red with yellow and green with yellow appliqué. Rows of quilting are hand stitched around the field surrounding each yellow blossom. The blocks are separated by a band of 4-inch wide sashing. The hand quilting is in large feather patterns throughout the background. The white border is 10 inches on the sides and 14 inches long on each end. There is a red, yellow, and green draped design that is appliquéd onto the border background. The binding is solid white with a red piped edge. |
