Description |
This is a primitive hand forged wrought iron flatiron with a thin base that is tapered back to front. It has a rounded tip and a strap handle that is bent back from the back of the base to the front. There is a small curl in the handle where it attaches to the base. |
Notes |
This is a blacksmith-made hand forged flat iron. It would be heated in a hearth or stovetop. It was used to smooth clothes and versions like this were available and used well into the 20th century. |
