Description |
This Drex Davis, Jr. campaign poster has a white background with green borders and white and green text. The top of the poster has a large green block with white text that reads "DREX DAVIS, JR." The center of the poster shows a black and white photograph of Davis. Below the image is a green text block with white letters that say "STATE AUDITOR." Green text centered below on a white background says "UNIQUELY QUALIFIED." In the bottom right corner in small green letters, the poster says "PAID FOR BY DREX DAVIS, JR. CAMPAIGN FUND, RON MULLINS, TREAS." A small green symbol to the right of this line of text looks to be an incomplete print of a union label. |
Notes |
This item was donated by Drexell R. Davis in 1988, the father of the subject of this poster. Davis, a self-described "Yellow Dog" Democrat, held several elected positions in the Kentucky state government. His thirty-three years of public service prompted his interest in collecting political memorabilia. His son, Drexell Davis, Jr. also went into politics. In 1991, Davis Jr. ran for state treasurer but lost in a crowded Democratic primary to Frances Jones Mills who had held the office previously. |
