Description |
This honorary assistant sergeant-at-arms badge was manufactured for the 1952 Republican National Convention held in Chicago, IL. The pinbar is heavy brass and rectangular with the shape of an eagle with outspread wings towards the top. The eagle has two U.S. flags at its breast. The rectangular portion has "HONORARY ASSISTANT / SERGEANT AT ARMS" embossed across it. A short purple ribbon attaches the medal to the pin. The medal is round with a stamp of Lincoln's profile with two olive branches on either side. "CHICAGO / 1952" is embossed along the top. "REPUBLICAN" is printed vertically from top to bottom along the left edge. The right edge has "CONVENTION" printed vertically from bottom to top along the right. "NATIONAL" is printed along the bottom border. The pinbar and medal feature several trade labels and a maker's mark that reads: "CRAFTERS INC. / CHICAGO". |

Each state delegation had a number of honorary assistant sergeant at arms, the position assisted the delegation members throughout the convention. The 1952 Republican National Convention nominated Dwight D. Eisenhower for president and Richard M. Nixon for vice president. |
