Description |
This is a campaign button for John C.W. Beckham. The button is a Celluloid type process with a sepia tone headshot photo of Beckham printed on paper. Beckham is shown looking forward and wearing a white collared shirt and a dark colored suit. The backing has a copper stickpin attached to the rim of the tinplate backplate. Written on the front in black lettering is "Governor J.C.W. Beckham". There is a piece of paper embedded into the back with the maker's mark and patent dates printed on it. |

This campaign button was from the gubernatorial election of John C.W. Beckham. Beckham was elected as governor in a special election following the assassination of Gov. William Goebel in 1900. Beckham was reelected in 1903 and served as governor through 1907. |
